The following is a brief description of the BMS EDI process.

Emdeon
BMS has chosen Emdeon, formerly WebMD, as their EDI clearinghouse. With this Emdeon interface, BMS exchanges secure electronic healthcare transactions via the internet with authorized and registered providers. The Transaction Process
Any provider capable of transmitting HIPAA compliant transaction sets, and expressing a desire to transmit this data to BMS, will have an account established with Emdeon directly or through a clearinghouse of their choice. Through this account, all electronic files will be transferred and processed.

Data files will be uploaded by the provider to a secure, encrypted server. On a daily basis, all incoming files are batch processed by Emdeon and forwarded to BMS so that the proper EDI response may be generated.
